Encounter transformed six urban sites in Medway and the boroughs of Gravesham and Swale through a range of temporary, site specific installations, performances or events developed in partnership with local community groups. Six commissioned artists used empty shops, vacant buildings, businesses, high streets and public squares between July and November 2011.
On the 28th February that year, Workshop 161 (part of the Empty Shops Network’s series of Workshop spaces) opened for one day.
In Workshop 161, people from various backgrounds came together to explore co-working possibilities, discuss potential creative collaboration and share ideas. This short video is a summary of that day by film-makers Fidgit Box.
